Ikigai is a Japanese concept meaning “a reason for being“. Everyone, according to the Japanese, has an ikigai. Finding it requires a deep and often lengthy search of self. Such a search is regarded as being very important, since it is believed that discovery of one’s ikigai brings satisfaction and meaning to life.

Many (smart) organisations are trying to find a way to motivate and engage their work force in order to provide more value to their customers. Luckily for them a lot of consulting companies acknowledge this fact and there is a huge amount of options available to get things moving. Unfortunately most of them focus on a single item in this complex world of work and as such deliver little to moderate impact.

When one really wants to have impact, one will need to make sure to provide a reason for being to the work force. Or in Japanese terms: Ikigai.

Ikigai is composed of 2 Japanese words:

Or short: “the reason to get up in the morning”.

It often requires a lengthy search of self which brings satisfaction and meaning to life and that’s where Management 3.0 comes into the picture. Management 3.0 provides you with a great collection of tools and techniques you can use to guide your search to your Ikigai.
